PROJECTS
HERE ARE SOME PROJECTS I’VE DONE FOR FUN!
This page is full of personal projects I’ve done over the years for myself! These were not hired jobs or ‘traditional’ portfolio projects; just projects I’ve enjoyed; however, if you're interested, feel free to look around.
Pointillism
Pointillism is an art style where you only use dots to create a whole picture. I enjoyed getting to try this new style on this project, and tried to utilize it in a few ways. I wanted to use the dots to convey a certain level of depth in the picture.
Playing around with the negative space in the dots and with the levels of density; I hoped to add an, almost, 3D effect to my piece. I really enjoyed the process of making this and getting to see it slowly come together in the end.
Cardboard Blanket
The prompt for this was to make a wearable cardboard project. I was intrigued with the idea of completely transforming the cardboard into it’s opposite; instead of stiff I would make it flexible and fluid, so I began work on creating a fabric out of cardboard! It took over 40 hours of cutting, blistering, bleeding, and sewing to make this 8 foot long cardboard blanket come to life, but I genuinely could not be happier with the result!
Tattoo Design
A completely new medium for me; working on a design meant to be with someone forever was certainly intimidating. The client for this project (a close friend) had very clear vision with specific flowers in mind for the tattoo. Figuring out how to draw these Henbane and Belladonna flowers was its own fun challenge. However, the real fun came by doing some mental gymnastics; figuring out how to draw, on a 2D page, art meant to rap around a person’s shoulder.
I fell in love with this design from the very beginning. Most of the time it takes many tries at a design before I’ve reached something I’m happy with, but this was one of those rare times as an artist where I loved every step! I am so happy with the final design and was even happier to know that the client was thrilled with it as well!
